How to choose the Right Types of Bangs

Check out our handy guide to finding the best bangs for your face shape.

1.Blunt Bangs. Blunt bangs are bangs that are cut straight across. They are often thick with little to no feathering. Blunt bangs have been around since way before some of us were even born. They really bloomed in the 1920’s when women were coming into their own realizing that they could earn their own money. Blunt bangs look great when coupled with any hairstyle. They look especially great with high top knots and low slick ponytail. Blunt bangs are a bit high maintenance. You need to take out time to style them everyday.

2.Arch Bangs. Arch bangs are similar to Blunt bangs, except rather than the cut being straight across the forehead, it is arch-shaped and follows the curve of the face. Arch bangs look better with thicker hair because they help the arch to stand out more. Arch bangs are a perfect hairstyle to choose if you have a square face because they can actually help your face look rounder.

3.Choppy Bangs. Choppy bangs are often paired with Pixie cut, but they also looks great with other styles, including Bob cuts. They are great for making short forehead look longer and round faces appear thinner. While most stylist caution against cutting bangs at home, Choppy bangs are an exception. Choppy bangs are chic, edgy, fun and so popular. So chop, chop and go get some Choppy bangs.

4.Curtain Bangs. Curtain bangs are bangs that are parted down the middle, framing your face on each side. They’re usually on the longer side and have wispy ends, giving them a laid back, cool girl vibe. Curtain bangs, used to be very popular back in the 1970’s and are now on trend once again. The Curtain bangs can either be down the center of the bangs or it can be off to one side instead. It can be worn with your hair up or with your hair down depending on the length of your bangs, you might need to use a dip to secure your bangs in place.

5.Side-swept Bangs. Side-swept bangs are probably the most common type of bangs it come from one side of your head and cross your forehead on a diagonal. They help to give your hairstyle an asymmetrical look which is very fashionable. This type of Side-swept bangs is very popular choice in the Emo-culture. There are also many women who go for a more subtle Side-swept that is because Side-swept looks great with most hairstyles.

6.Asymmetrical Bangs. Asymmetrical hairstyles are haircuts that aren’t even, or balance. Perhaps it is just the bangs that rather than cut evenly straight across, were at an angle or unbalanced. Or perhaps you saw a Bob cut with one side longer and more angled than the other. A haircut with Asymmetric bangs will look extravagant, stylist and modern. Short Asymmetrical bangs options open the face to the fullest, emphasizing both perfection and imperfections. That is why Asymmetric bangs will ideally look good on ladies with correct face shapes.
